CCR Aice Media Studies

 1.  How does your product use or challenge conventions AND how does it represent social groups or issues? When looking back at the music video I made with my partner Jenna I can see that we did use conventions to a certain extent. With this in mind our music video that we made and released onto our blog wasn’t our first idea. So when looking back at my research blog I can see that all the songs chosen are from Disney. This was because our previous song ‘Ma Belle Evangeline’ is a Disney song. This doesn’t contradict the fact disney songs are pop songs and the song we chose after was also pop. When reviewing the use of sounds, camera angles, editing, etc I can see that we used relative similarities to the music videos we stated such as non-diegetic sound, inserts, soft and heavy lighting, and cut away. When trying to find a meaning of a music video you tend to look at the people and or setting it was filmed. Sometimes people dig too deep. All and all this music video doesn’t re...

'Ending is near'

Hey guys!! Me and Jenna have been working really hard. I have been editing and she has been recording. We are so happy to show you guys the final results of everything. Throughout our ups and downs we still persevered. At the beginning of it all we decided to film with the song 'Ma Belle Evangeline'. We had to scratch that idea since it was time consuming, we lacked actors, and the funds. We were really excited to film with that song but unfortunately, we couldn't. Jenna then got this great idea about filming to 'Never gonna give you up'. This was an easy idea for us both because we had everything we needed already. Jenna has done a great job recording now it's up to me to finish editing. (10) I have been editing the footage rather nicely. I decided to add text to the music video since its popular in most music videos to add emphasis. I also added this effect called velocity to add emphasis on the dogs running. I changed the lighting just a tad bit. It was so t...

'Getting the Angles'

Hey guys!! Me and Jenna have been working on our music video and conspiring ideas. She has been doing most of the filming. I mostly throw the ideas to help create a plot. I try to get her to film the dog running around different areas. This would help create a sort of montage. In most movies people/animals who run away or get kidnapped have a sort of montage moment. They use different clips from different days and settings/places to help convey that many days have passed since. I try to get Jenna to record the dog from behind and from the side. It's been a bit difficult for her. The dog doesn't really want to leave Jenna's side. She sometimes records from up above which isn't a very good perspective of running away. She has gotten a few good clips though. One from behind and a few from the side. She said she is going to record more in different places too. She has gotten a few shots of the dog running in a building and also running outside by her complex. Most of these...

‘We are in a bit of a pickle’

Hey guys!! Let me start off with there’s been a change of plans. Me and Jenna have been trying to put the princess and the frog song my belle Evangeline into action but we just couldn’t. We have different schedules and can’t seem to agree on a certain thing. So we have decided to change our plan. We will be making a music video with the song ‘never going to give you up’. This would consist of Jenna and her dog. The plot would be that the dog goes missing and she places posters everywhere to help find her dog. The dog would be the main point of interest since she is playing a big role. The reason for change is mostly due to schedule and other things like costumes and lack of actors/extras to be in the film as well. Instead of being in the new MV I will be filming and editing most of it. Jenna decided to do it at her home/neighborhood so her dog could stay calm. I can’t really be around dogs a lot because they make me sneeze amongst other things. I will be doing as much as I can to help ...

'Changes have been made'

Hey guys!! I regret to inform you that me and Jenna have scratched the music video for 'Ma Belle Evangeline'. We were put in such an unpredictable situation. We lost all our actors; we were low on funds and our schedule was colliding with each other's. Don't worry though because we were able to fix everything by just changing everything all together. Our genre is still pop but it doesn't fall under the Disney category. Our new song is 'Never Gonna Give You Up' by Rick Astley. We chose this because we thought of a more simpler video concept. Where we didn't have to spend a lot of money and don't need to contain other people. We thought of just having Jenna's dog in the video. The whole concept would be that the dog is missing, and that Jenna is looking for her. Jenna goes around showing a picture of her dog to everyone. She then posts missing posters around the neighborhood in hopes of finding her dog. She films clips of her dog running away and ...

'The time is Approaching'

Hey guys!! Me and Jenna are going to go shopping for our costumes together. We are going to go to the Target near our school. We will be looking for green or just nature like colors. This will be during the weekend maybe around Sunday because we have things to do on Saturday. We are planning on recording from an iPhone 11. Maybe edit on the computer or on CapCut still. Jenna is a good partner to work with. She always has ideas to contribute to the project. I was kind of debating on this music video. I don't know if we will execute it right because I don't have a lot of access to things. I need to buy my costume soon and I don't know where to look.   From the moment we started this project, we were very thrilled to see where it would go and how we would be able to execute it. We both share a love for the film and its timeless message of following one's dreams, and we wanted to capture that spirit in our music video. Our first step was to carefully select the right locat...
